I'm going to try to do a blog without talking too much about Jordon, but it's so hard not to. We have been keeping busy this week, on Thursday night we received a call to give a talk in sacrament meeting. We thought it was ironic that the topic we were given was the topic we were planning to speak about if Chris was still executive secretary by that time. We were able to put our talks together with the help of dad letting us borrow a couple of stories from his talks on Temple Blessings. I always get quite nervous when i do a talk, but today wasn't too bad. I actually prefer giving talks over teaching the whole YW organization on fast sundays which i had to do when i was the YW secretary. Everything went well and i sure enjoyed listening to Chris tell about the motorcycle story(Chris will have to tell you it if you are interested.)

This week we have also been working on some house projects. We are currently working on updating the guest bathroom by doing some painting and electrical work. I enjoy painting and it's about time for me to finish what i started 2 years ago before Jordon was born.

We have also been looking at a way to help our budget. We are still thinking over it, but I'm pretty sure we have decided to go with buying cloth diapers. Cloth diapers have come a long way from back when our parents had us, so i talked to my sister who is currently using them for her son, and she has convinced me of how much better it is. It costs quite a bit up front because you need about 16-20 diapers, a diaper sprayer, certain cans to keep the smell out, along with special detergent. Along with doing laundry every other day, which still wouldn't add up as much as buying diapers every month. It might sound gross to have to go to cloth diapers, but Erin gave me a lot of reasons why cloth is better.

1. It saves a bundle on buying diapers every month

2. It helps to save on less garbage dumping for the earth

3. There are some irritants in the diaper that hurts baby skin, leads to more rash than cloth diapers

4. In case of emergency situations and if you don't have extra disposable diapers, you have cloth you can use.

Erin even gave me a recipe for making your own wipes, which the store wipes have harmful chemicals too, and these don't take that much effort to make, and are safer.

So that is our plan. I don't think Jordon will be potty trained by 2, but we are going to think about buying his own potty in a few months. More than likely he won't be potty trained until 3, which would save us about 500 dollars or more on diapers. That's almost 2 car payments!

Anyways, that's about it. Thought i'd do a blog while Jordon is napping. Today he didn't take a nap at church so he'll be going to bed late tonight. Oh well. Chris is planning on going to the General Priesthood Meeting while I hopefully go hang out with the rest of the family at Mom's house. Sorry no pictures today!

And the best thing about them, is you can get a one size adjustable diaper that grows with your child. They have snaps on them which will adjust from 5 lbs to 35 lbs. So when you buy them, they are supposed to last through two kids. Of course i don't think i would use them until after they are about 3 months old, i doubt you'd want to be changing the meconium diapers this way. But after 3 months old and use them til they are potty trained you'll save a lot of money. I was just thinking of ways to save money as a stay at home mom. These were actually designed by SAHM's too. So if anyone is interested give us a call.

My wonderful wife gave me a memory stick for the camcorder. We've been having some issues with using the discs that the camcorder uses, and luckily the camcorder is a hybrid. That doesn't mean gas and electric power. It uses discs and memory sticks. Yeah for smart technology, since I really get confused on many different things. Sometimes I pretend I know what the new gadgets are, but I'm really just an amature. Here it goes... Wish us luck!

Viral Infection!

So, sorry i haven't posted anything lately, this past week has been quite a duzy? for us. Last week the Volvo needed repairs on the car, the belts on the alternator were almost completely busted, and supposedly the battery was close to dead and the rear brake pads going out. But i hate mechanics especially when i go in. All i went in was for an oil change and Jordon and I ended up being there for 2 hours. The belts needed to be replaced but they printed out a thing for all the repairs needing to be done costing over $1,000 but when Chris and Dad look at it, it's just fine. They sure know how to take advantage of women! Drives me crazy!

But that wasn't the end of our troubles for the week. Friday after Jordon's nap, he woke up burning hot with a fever and not feeling good. He was a little cranky but still seemed mostly ok. The fever broke but then on Saturday he was still not doing the best so i gave him some acetimetaphin. His fever would come and go. He wasn't eating the best either. Chris and I ended up going to a movie while Kacey watched Jordon for about 15 minutes and then calling mom and dad to come over cause jordon puked like 3 times and was burning up again. He was such a sick little boy and wouldn't eat, he would drink a little for them but not too much. We took his temperature when he got home and he was almost at 102 degrees. Chris and Dad gave him a blessing and then as soon as they left we just put him to bed. All he wanted was for us to hold him to sleep, having such a fever like that he just wouldn't let us go. Saturday and Sunday night he would wake up around 3 in the morning wanting something to drink and some more tylenol. The only problem was he wouldn't let me put him back down in his crib so yes, a couple nights he would sleep with us. (But no worries, he is sleeping just fine by himself now!) I'm finally caught up on my sleep now.

Sunday Jordon stayed home with Daddy while i went to church. He actually took 2 naps that day but mostly on us. He still wasn't feeling good and hardly eating and only drinking a little, so I actually ended up taking out his baba that's been gone for quite a few months so he could get something down him finally. Mom was kind to bring over dinner, but we ended up eating it later, since we took Jordon to urgent care that evening. The good news is that it isn't an ear infection or strep throat but it is a nasty viral infection that's been going around lately.

He's doing a lot better now, i gave him motrin and it seemed to help a lot more. He broke his fever on monday and today he's got his appetite back. He's been sleeping a lot better at night and taking great naps. One day he took a 4 hour nap. Last night he slept 12 hours and still wanted to go down for a nap a little after 11. I'm glad he is sleeping and resting, that's the best thing when you are sick. So those of you wondering how he is doing, he's doing so much better, hopefully by this weekend he'll be back to his normal self. And hopefully this nasty rash he got too will be gone.

On Monday night we were able to meet Tyler who is visiting Kacey. It was sure great to meet the man who stole Kacey's heart, they look good together, and he seems to blend in with the family. They might come over this afternoon to see where Kacey grew up. It will be nice for him to see the Crawford house. Nothing else is really happening, just wanted to mostly update on Jordon's condition. It's good to see a smile back on his face again! We sure love our little boy!

Today, Jordon has decided that using utensils is cool! He has always liked having a spoon to hold while i would feed him but he has always tried to steal the fork. It isn't a bad thing except the last time i let him he almost jabbed himself in the eye, so i have only been letting him have a spoon. All week he's been fussy whenever i'd not let him have the fork, so today i gave it a shot and this was the result! Sorry if the pictures are fuzzy.

He knew exactly what to do! Lots of times he just likes to play with his utensils but he just took the fork after i speared something on it for him and right in the mouth it went! He will still play swords with me, such a mess, but he is a boy and boys will be boys!

Another cool thing that happened today was that I turned my back for a second and he took off for the master bedroom to visit patches, but also pooed back there(sorry for the mental picture) and so i found him but he took off again right to his room and sat on his lap pad waiting for me to change his dirty diaper. Maybe he'll be a good boy to potty train. He still will run away from me if i bring out the diaper though. He has been learning so much since he has started walking. He is just walking up a storm. He is able to say Kitty cat and Dadda(pretty much all he says, but in MT when he started to walk Kitty Cat was the first word out of his mouth). He loves cats!

It is so crazy to see him walking/trying to run. It makes him so tired. He used to only sleep 2 to 2 1/2 hour naps a day, but now it's a solid 3 hour nap. I'm so glad he is doing so great with sleeping. The next child will be sleep trained oh so much earlier. But I don't regret a lot of those snuggles where he would sleep on me. It's nice to have those snuggley moments, but at the same time it can backfire badly, which Chris and I have learned the hard way. What guinea pigs us new 1st time parents are! We live and learn!
