A Trip to the Doctor

Well, the day has come. We've knocked on wood, so happy that as to this day we haven't sent our children to get stitches because of a major owie. Yesterday was the scariest moment of my life. I took my kids for a ride around the block with their little ride on cars, we do it all the time right after dinner, Jordon decided he had to go "super fast" all of a sudden, and as i was trying to catch up to him to slow down, he hit a bump on the pavement, and flew off his car. I don't like it when everything in front of you is in slow motion and you're trying to cry out "Nooooo! especially to your child. Thankfully when i got there, he was still conscious, his teeth were fine, but he had cut the bottom of his chin really bad, so bad that there was a gash. The only thing to stop the bleeding was for me to take off his shirt to use it as a rag. I knew right then that he was going to need to go get stitches. Thankfully a couple were walking their dogs and helped all of us to get back to our house. I called Mom and Megan and they came over to help me with everything. Megan stayed with David until Chris got home and Mom, Jordon, and I jumped in the car and went to the care now clinic. He was such a great trooper, I didn't even bring anything for a snack or drink(which he always complains for) and it took us a long time for us to get in to see the doctor. I guess nowadays they do a "glue stitch" which is more cosmetic on injuries and less traumatic. It took 3 of us to hold him down while the doctor did the gluing. He hated every second of it and was pretty grumpy. After we left we decided to get him a happy meal with chocolate milk and he was the happiest camper plus the happy meal came in a scooby doo bucket. He went to bed very well and was so glad to have his day over. He is doing much better, he'll have the glue there for about a week before we can peel/and wash it off. I think he is a little more cautious, at least today. We went for a stroller ride after dinner today and he didn't want to get out to walk. Thank goodness for people willing to help. Thank you so much to Mom and Megan, and to the family that helped us home. Parenting is such an adventure, just glad our boys are safe and taken care of. We love our little boys, even with all their crazy energy.

Overdue post

So I'm not even sure how to begin a post after it has been such an extremely long time since we've done one. The task is daunting, i want to keep up a record of our family and what is going on but after we lost a lot of pictures and the time it took to recover them, so much time had passed. If i get around to it i'll try to play catch up but the only way i can manage to start blogging again is at the present day.

I'll do another post about our summer adventures in Colorado and UT later.

The school year has officially begun. Tomorrow marks the start of the third week of Pre-K, PPCD for Jordon. He is trying really hard to adjust back to the school mode, i know he likes it there and it's only 3 hours of school versus summer school that was almost 5 by the time he left to go to school til the time he was dropped off. The great thing though is that i believe he is more willing to go to the potty over there, he has learned over the summer to do it forwards and backwards without a potty insert, and after our big trek to CO this summer he is more willing to go into any bathroom. And he is no longer wearing pullups at school....woohoo!

His first day at school was quite interesting because somehow i forgot to sign him up for bus service for the year. So knowing that he wasn't registered again, i assumed i would just take him to school for the first week. I was actually kindof excited to take him but then the bus came down our road. That was a sad morning, don't know why, but i was disappointed of not being able to take him on the first day, getting pictures, etc. David was pretty sad all morning so we just did a lot of activities to keep him going.

I figured if the bus took him in the morning,  for sure he would be on the bus when he came home. Got a phone call from the teacher stating that the bus forgot him and he would need to be picked up. After the whole ordeal i decided we'd cancel bus service because they came at 7:10 Tuesday morning, so early, school doesn't start until 7:50. Actually Jordon is now preferring me being the chauffeur. Other than the bus situation, he had a great day at school, besides making one boy mad at him(but now they are becoming buddies, i think).

So we are all getting back into the school thing, it's kindof nice to have that schedule set back in again. The school is great and he can be taught there in so many ways that i don't know i could do.

I have officially passed my defensive driver course, oh, for those that don't know, i was pulled over before summer school started for not stopping completely at a stop sign. I was in a hurry to do a "meet the teacher" for Jordon's summer school, went in the wrong side of the school and was pulled over when i was trying to go the other side. So i have officially learned my lesson the hard way.

The one big thing we've done, as long as it works out, is we've put both boys in the same room for bedtime, Jordon has been asking for it for a few months and i'm hoping it'll help Jordon not sneak in our room in the middle of the night. Of course he's such an early bird that it's affecting David's sleep a little, but we're adjusting, wish us luck!

I'll post pictures soon, just wanted to let everyone know we are still here and do blog every now and then. I think i should try to do it weekly, so i don't forget.

Summer Illness that spreads through the family

Earlier this week Jordon developed a fever and got a really bad sore throat.  We went to the doctor and confirmed that he didn't have strep.  Our home teacher and I performed a priesthood blessing and thankfully Jordon has recovered today.  Unfortunately, Darlene and David are showing signs of getting the same illness Jordon had.  

Don't you just love how families share EVERYTHING. hehehe   

Jordon's 4th Birthday/Easter/4 day weekend

We had a great 4 day weekend, the boys needed some extra craft things to do, so we decided to do a lot of painting, Jordon loves to paint, and this was David's first taste of it. I think he enjoyed himself, of course he wanted to "taste the paint" too. And there was a lot of silliness such as below,,with Daddy. Playing "where did the belly button go", and David saying "oh no" when it disapears.

We also enjoyed having Mom and Dad's puppies too. The boys were beyond ecstatic when they were here. I don't know how you have pets with young kids, it felt like there were 4 kids. But everything went well and it nice to have them around.

Before Mom and dad left, we had a birthday celebration. On Sunday, April 1st, we did the Alleman tradition of pancakes, but Jordon wanted chocolate in it too, so he was way excited. He loved the musical candle and he almost blew out his candle by himself. It's a work in progress, we hope that by next year he'll have it down.

After conference, we had Mom, Dad, Megan, and Zach come over to celebrate Jordon's 4th birthday. It was so much fun to be able to have everyone over. We enjoyed a Lasagna Dinner with wonderful french bread. Afterwards we opened some amazing presents. Gramma and Grampa sure know how to spoil their grandkids. We'll always remember his 4th birthday, no details unless you want them...:) David was very sneaky too, everytime Jordon would open another present he would steal the other toys away to play with them.
We then topped the evening off with cake and icecream.

Yesterday, was a very busy day, it first started with an Easter Egg Hunt, but i'll finish up Jordon's birthday parties first.

After their naps we had a friend birthday party for Jordon at Lion's Club Park, celebrating the big #4! It's so hard to believe that our little boy is growing up and that he'll be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2013. It goes by way too fast. Of course the theme had to be "A Thomas Train Party."

We invited 4 families and they were able to play around at the park on a hot April day. We should've brought sunscreen. He has very nice friends who gave up half of their nap to come to his party, they looked a little tired but happy to be there. We brought yummy cupcakes and icecream sandwiches for everyone. The kiddos enjoyed running around in the park and having plenty of fun.

He is such a big kid, we loved being able to spend time outside with all of his friends and to see such a big happy face. I took him to the doctor for his 4 year checkup, he weighs 33 lbs and is 43 inches tall, tall and skinny as the doctor says, but doing well.

It was quite the day, because earlier that morning we had an Easter Egg Hunt with some friends in the ward. We all gathered together for a pancake breakfast and then went to Scout Park for the Hunt. It was David's first real Easter Egg Hunt, and Jordon after several years of this, he's got it down pat. David wasn't quite sure. Here are some pictures of that event.

The next day......

Sunday after their naps, we had an at home Easter Egg Hunt for the kids since it was rainy outside. We also decorated some eggs, and this time Jordon wanted to help, it was a little messy for the first couple of eggs, but after he learned to be careful and slowly put the eggs in the cups, he did great. We also made a special Easter Sunday Dinner, made a ham, watermelon, corn on cob, and some pie. The kids were thoroughly spoiled(for like 2 weeks). It'll be a shocker to them when we don't have any special treats in the house.

it's daddy grass head! :) they thought this was hilarious, of course whoever invented easter egg grass should be shot...worst thing to clean up, should be an age set for it, unless i missed it on the package.

It was a great, busy couple of weeks, but we had so much fun, Jordon is a wonderful little boy and we love him so much. Can't believe he is already 4 years old but we are looking forward to all he'll learn this new year. David is doing well too, saying so much, but we'll post on him later.
