This morning Jordon had his 2 year checkup, i know i should be posting birthday pictures first but i'll work on that tonight. I have a bit of stuff to do while he's napping. I thought i'd just do a quick update on his appt and progress. They had to measure him several times since he kept running away and squirming. But his final measurements are 27 pounds with clothes on(so about 26 without), he was able to stand up on the scale this time. And he is 35 1/2 inches tall-almost 3 feet! i think he'll be close to 6 feet tall by the time he grows up. He is in the 75th percentile for heighth and still in the 25th-50th percentile for weight. Still a tall skinny boy!
The doctor said he looks happy and healthy with big smiles! He had 1 shot today, but the funny thing is is that he was more upset about having to lye down still then getting the shot. But he still clung to me, he's understanding more about the doctors office giving shots at every visit. He doesn't need any more shots thankfully until he's 4 years old and he won't need another checkup until 3. Feels kindof weird he's at that age where it's just yearly visits.
The one thing that Chris and I have been concerned about for a while is his lack of communication and speaking skills. I asked the doctor since Jordon only says about 10 words at a maximum. He referred us to a speech therapist and a audiologist to check his hearing, so we'll be trying to set that up pretty soon. I think his hearing is fine but just for peace of mind we will go that route. My sister thinks it would be great, her son is with a speech therapist right now and doing a lot better. We know he's a smart kiddo just need to get his speech moving forward.
I feel this is the best thing to do for him, we don't want to see him fall behind in his development. So we'll go and get him tested and start it up. I'm also going to take him to the library for story time for 2 year olds and hopefully interacting a little more with other kids will help. We also have playgroups every now and then and he's in nursery. He's around other kids just not all the time, so i'm hoping maybe with the intervention program there will be some classes and playgroups with kids in his developmental range too. We sure love our Jordon, he's such a sweetheart, gives the biggest hugs and kisses. We are so proud of him!
We are also taking a break on the toddler bed at least for a couple of weeks. Too much stress and frustration on everyone's part. We'll post b-day pictures soon!
